To establish our lovely port town of Obama Fukui as Japan's premier photography destination. We'll pursue this goal by developing partnerships with leading industry manufacturers & suppliers, opening a brick & mortar Obama Photographique themed photography center complete with gallery cafe, library & print center and pursuing our long term agenda as shared below.
Unleash your creativity at Obama Photographique
Your photography the way you want it. This is the place where you can photograph on your terms. You wont find 'no entry' or 'no photo' signs here in Obama. We are free of the over burdensome rules and regulations that handicap creative efforts across Japan. We work seamlessly with the city to provide an effortless and enjoyable shooting experience.
From our biannual guest invitational 'Shootarounds' to custom private photography tours, we offer a little something for everyone interested in photography!
Enjoy a magnificent 3 night/4 day themed instructional photography tour with some of the best photography minds and mentors on the planet. Enjoy beautifully renovated traditional machiya townhouse accommodations, delicious food, incredible locations, and photographic fellowship.
A photography-centric offering to both established and emerging photographers and photo based artists.
Our determination to transform our town of Obama, Fukui and the lovely Wakasa valley it's nestled in into the Mecca for all things photography in Japan.
Tucked neatly between the folds and hills of the Wakasa valley and the crystal blue waters of Wakasa bay, our town is verdant and lush and brimming with nature. As one of the very first entry points for Buddhism into Japan, we are home to nearly 400 temples and shrines, including some of Japan's oldest and most spectacular temples.
Our town has a strong community fabric of young families and children, with a beautifully preserved historic district, numerous local artisan craftsmen, and the very best bakery on the planet. Our town is welcoming and inviting and very VERY photography friendly!
